What is confirmed for 2027?
The organizer announced the 77th Sapporo Snow Festival for February 4–11, 2027. Odori covers West 1 to West 11; Tsudome uses the Sapporo Community Dome; Susukino uses Ekimae-dori between South 4 and South 6. Read the official 2027 announcement.
The outline plans five large snow sculptures at Odori alongside smaller works and winter attractions. This is an outline, not a complete daily timetable.
Choose a base before adding day trips
Choose Odori if repeated central sculpture walks matter most. Susukino suits an evening-led plan with dinner near your accommodation. Sapporo Station is useful when airport and regional rail movements shape the trip. Compare the actual walk from the hotel entrance, not just its district label: an extra outdoor transfer feels longer in icy weather.
A three-night stay can be more manageable than trying to attend every day. Leave one block of time unbooked, and compare cancellation terms before committing to accommodation. This guide does not quote a hotel price or promise availability.
A workable three-day rhythm
- Day 1Keep the arrival day central
Settle in, take a short Odori walk and find an indoor warming stop. Return after dark only if the current operating schedule allows it and you still feel comfortable outdoors.
- Day 2Choose one main outing
Decide whether Tsudome fits your group once its 2027 transport and attraction details are available. Otherwise, give central Sapporo a slower food-and-culture day rather than treating all three sites as compulsory.
- Day 3Protect the return journey
Use a final central walk or an indoor activity. Keep distant excursions away from a tightly timed departure and allow for winter transport disruption.
Transport: do not reuse the 2026 shuttle plan
Plan Odori and Susukino as a central walking-and-transit pair, but check current entrances, pedestrian controls and service notices. Tsudome is a separate outing: verify its 2027 access route, shuttle arrangements and last return before heading out. No 2026 shuttle time or fare is presented here as a 2027 fact.
Cold-weather planning that changes the route
Wear insulated footwear with grip, keep gloves and dry layers accessible, and plan indoor breaks before everyone becomes cold. Carry your phone close to your body and avoid spending the whole battery on photos before the return trip. A smaller bag is easier to manage when both hands need to stay available on slippery ground.
For a more detailed packing and walking plan, use the Sapporo winter footwear and warming-stop guide. Extend the trip through the Hokkaido regional guide, rather than adding several distant transfers to a short festival stay.
